Citrus Lemongrass Tea

Lemongrass is a common herb in Ghana. It is also known as Fevergrass, mostly used to help reduce fever associated with malaria, infections etc. Other uses are for stomach problems such as bloating and indigestion, and generally for promoting good health. 

This recipe is simple and can easily be made at home. Fresh Lemongrass can be found in most neighborhoods in Ghana. If it is not readily available to you, we have it available in store. You can purchase by clicking here. It is not only tasty but also very nutritious as Citrus is loaded with Vitamin C which helps boost immunity.

Ingredients

  1. Lemongrass (Fresh, Dried, Teabags)
  2. Orange (Juice, Slices)
  3. Lemon (Juice, Slices)
  4. Water
  5. Honey (optional)

Measurements (To make 750ml)

  1. Lemongrass
    • Fresh – 40g
    • Dried – 20g
    • Teabags – 10 bags
  2. Orange 
    • Juice (Freshly squeezed) – 100ml
    • Slices – 1 large size
  3. Lemon 
    • Juice (Freshly squeezed)
    • Slices – 1 large size
  4. Water – 1 Liter
  5. Honey (optional) – 2 tablespoons

Method

  • In a large sauce pan, add water, Lemongrass, Orange Juice and Slices and Lemon Juice and Slices.
  • Allow to boil for 5 to 10 minutes and allow to simmer for 10 minutes
  • Strain and serve into a cup or mug of choice
  • If preferred, add honey and stir
  • Enjoy warm or iced, both ways taste absolutely amazing
